FAQs

What is a white bath panel?

A white bath panel is a protective and decorative covering that fits around the base of a bathtub. Its primary purpose is to hide unsightly plumbing and the underside of the tub while providing a clean, seamless finish to your bathroom decor.

Key Characteristics

Function: Conceals pipes, prevents water from splashing underneath the tub, and keeps the area tidy.
Versatility: White is the most popular bathroom color choice because it matches nearly any tile, vanity, or color scheme.
Types: Available as front panels (for the long side of a tub) and end panels (for the shorter sides).
Standard Sizes: They typically come in standard lengths like 1500, 1600, 1700, and 1800 mm to accommodate most standard straight bathtubs.

Are white bath panels universal?

No, white bath panels are not entirely universal. While many are designed as standard to fit a majority of conventional straight baths, you must check specific measurements, materials, and bath shapes before buying.

What materials are white bath panels made from?

White bath panels are primarily made from three common materials. Each option balances cost, durability, and style differently.

Common Materials

Acrylic: Lightweight, highly water-resistant, budget-friendly, and very easy to wipe clean. High-grade acrylic resists yellowing and cracking over time.
MDF: Solid, rigid, and premium-feeling. The wood core is wrapped in a waterproof vinyl layer or coated in high-gloss paint to prevent moisture damage.
HIPS (High-Impact Polystyrene): A flexible, budget-friendly plastic. It is incredibly easy to cut to size but is generally thinner and less rigid than acrylic or MDF.

Alternative Options

PVC / Plastic: Highly flexible, cheap, completely waterproof, and often features a hollow or cellular structure to save weight.
Solid Wood: Rare for pure white panels, but painted solid timbers (like moisture-treated pine or oak) offer a traditional, tongue-and-groove look.

Can I cut a white bath panel to size?

Yes, you can cut most white bath panels to size, but the method depends entirely on the material.

HIPS / Thin Plastic: Use a sharp utility knife. Score a deep line along your mark, then snap the plastic cleanly away.
Acrylic: Use a fine-tooth handsaw or a jigsaw with a plastic-cutting blade. Leave the protective plastic film on while cutting to prevent scratches and splintering.
MDF / Wood: Use a standard fine-tooth wood saw or circular saw. You must seal the raw, cut edge immediately with silicone sealant or waterproof primer to stop water from rotting the wood.

How do I choose the right size bath panel?

Choosing the right size bath panel comes down to taking three accurate measurements: length, height, and width. It is usually better to buy a panel slightly larger than your bath because they can be easily trimmed down to your exact measurements.

Are white bath panels waterproof?

Yes. Bathroom-grade white bath panels are designed to resist moisture, humidity, and everyday water exposure when installed and sealed correctly.

Can I replace a bath panel without replacing the bath?

Yes. Bath panels can usually be replaced independently, provided the new panel matches the bath dimensions and installation style.

How do I clean a white bath panel?

Clean the panel using warm water, a soft cloth, and a non-abrasive bathroom cleaner. Regular cleaning helps maintain the bright white finish and prevents the build-up of soap residue and water marks.
