Acoustic panels are wall panels made from wood slats mounted on a sound-absorbing felt backing. The felt between and behind the slats soaks up some of the echo that bounces off bare walls, while the slats add the warm, vertical texture of a timber feature wall.

Living rooms, media walls, bedrooms, home offices, dining rooms and hallways all suit acoustic panels, especially open-plan spaces with hard floors that sound echoey. The panels also fix to ceilings for a full timber look overhead.

Bathroom Mountain's acoustic panels come in standard, wide slat, multi-width, curved, chevron, half-height, flexible and 3m XL formats. Wood slat shades include oak, light oak, smoked oak, autumn brown, walnut brown, ash grey, white and noir black on black, grey, white or antique white felt, alongside matt painted and patterned designs.

What Are Acoustic Panels?

Acoustic panels are wall panels made from wood or wood-veneer slats fixed to a felt backing. The felt absorbs some sound, which helps reduce echo in a room. They're used as feature walls in living rooms, bedrooms and offices.

Do Acoustic Wood Panels Actually Work?

Acoustic wood panels help reduce echo and reverberation, making a room sound softer and calmer, especially in open-plan rooms with hard floors. They don't soundproof a wall or stop noise passing through to the next room. Following the fitting guide helps them perform at their best.

Can Acoustic Panels Be Used In A Bathroom?

Acoustic panels with felt backing are made for dry rooms and aren't suitable for showers or wet bathroom walls. For bathrooms, choose waterproof PVC, SPC or WPC wall panels instead, which include wood effect and reeded designs.

How Do You Fit Acoustic Panels?

Acoustic panels fix to the wall with panel adhesive, screws, or both, and cut easily with a fine-tooth saw. Most panels are light enough for one person to fit, though two people make full-height panels easier. Matching trims finish the edges.

Can Acoustic Panels Go On A Ceiling?

Yes, acoustic slat panels are suitable for interior walls and ceilings. On a ceiling, fix them with screws into the joists as well as adhesive, and follow the fitting guide.

How to Choose the Best Acoustic Panels for Your Room?

To choose the best acoustic panels for your room, pick a slat style first (standard, wide, multi-width or curved), then a wood shade and felt colour that suit your furniture and floor. Measure your wall to work out how many panels you need, and add trims, adhesive and lights to finish. Shop the range at Bathroom Mountain.
