Modern Bathroom Ideas – How to Make your Bathroom Look Super-Contemporary

Modern bathrooms should look streamlined, stylish and co-ordinated. Here are our best design ideas and inspiration to make your new contemporary bathroom look perfect. Go for fluted glass, gold finishes, wall-hung furniture and gorgeous colour for serious style…

1 – Fluted Glass Panels

Fluted glass is also sometimes called reeded glass, and has fine vertical ribs which create a streamlined and very stylish look that fulfils the super-contemporary design brief. A black frame adds dark definition, and as shown here, if it’s teamed with vertically patterned tiles, the look is fully coordinated. This is our Munich Fluted Matt Black Framed Easy Clean wet room shower panel. Try our Galway Premium Matt Black Square Thermostatic Waterfall Shower to finish the look.

2 – Choose Gold

Gold brassware (which is actually a brushed brass finish) is one of the ways to make your new bathroom look super-contemporary. Look at mirrors, taps and accessories, such as our Soar and Trent tap collections for stylish gold finishes. Even if you want a more classic look, we’ve got it covered, with the Nene Collection. To really emphasise the gold standard, think about including a radiator, such as our Barcelona Brushed Brass Straight Heated Towel rail. This measures 1600mmx500mm, other sizes and electric versions are available to suit all spaces…

3 – A Sliding Door Enclosure

A shower enclosure with a sliding door installed into a fully tiled alcove look very cleek and minimalist, while retaining the advantages of a roomy shower space and the convenience of a ‘walk-in’ space – the sliding shower door allows plenty of room to manoeuvre. Continue the chrome theme with a matching radiator and wall-hung furniture for a contemporary and practical look. This is our Hamburg Sliding Shower Door, this model is 1100mm wide, a 1200mm wide also available.

4 – LED Bluetooth Mirror

For that extra hi-tech contemporary vibe, choose our Ellie mirror with LED Surround and integral Bluetooth Speaker. Every bathroom needs a good, clearly lit mirror, and if you’re going for a mirror that needs an electrical connection, why not go the full nine yards and include a Bluetooth speaker version. Perfect for lounging in the bath listening to music or giving a bit of oomph to your morning wash and brush! Available in four sizes, has a sensor switch on front of mirror and the design includes a de-misting pad.

5 – A Focus Bath

A focal-point bath can be a freestanding model for the greatest impact – as shown here perfectly with our Richmond Freestanding Slipper Bath. We love the contrasts in this room… although the room itself has a classic decor (wall panelling and marble tiles), the over-riding style is super-contemporary thanks to this modern interpretation of a traditional slipper bath, and the very contemporary choice of a black freestanding set of taps – our Trent Matt Black Freestanding Bath Shower Mixer Tap. Bath also available in 1500mm length.

6 – Pick a Colour

Introduce a bold swathe of colour with striking bathroom cabinetry. Dark blues, greens and greys a very on-trend, and add a focus colour to the proceedings, Here, our Elba Double Wall Hung Vanity in Midnight Green provides a positive green note to the scheme. White marble-tiled walls, such as Carrera White Marble Effect Polished Porcelain from Tile Mountain teamed with a pair of white counter-top basins, tall gold taps and brightly lit circular LED mirrors confirm the contemporary look.

7 – Wall-Hung Taps + Counter-Top Basin

Wall-hung (also known as Wall-Mounted) taps are a sure fire way of installing a sense of contemporary style to a new bathroom. Paired with counter-top basin, the look is both minimalist and super-contemporary. Our Trent Matt Black mixer has a round dial and slender lever to operate the tap, and uses ceramic disc construction to prevent leaks and endure smooth and easy-to-use operation. The modern basin shown is our Louisiana Round Basin, also available as an oval and rectangular model.

8 – Wood-Looks + Integral Basins

If you’re not choosing a ‘colour’ for the new bathroom, an equally contemporary look is a wood stained finish, such as our Elba Charcoal Elm finish, shown here with a 1200mm wide wall hung vanity unit. Combine with integrated basins (rather than sit-on counter top versions) to make the bathroom look spacious and sleek. Black handles on the cabinet drawers look super-stylish and can team with chrome taps, as shown here, or perhaps with Matt Black taps from our Trent collection of taps, bath fillers and shower fittings.
