What Are Black Radiator Valves?

Black radiator valves are the fittings that connect a radiator to your central heating pipework, finished in matt black rather than chrome. They control water flow into the radiator, and they're sold in pairs since every radiator needs one on each side.

Should I Buy Angled, Straight Or Corner Black Valves?

It depends on where your pipes come from. Angled valves suit pipes coming out of the floor or wall at a right angle to the radiator, straight valves suit pipes running directly in line with the valve inlet, and corner valves tuck in neatly where you want the handle facing forward.

What's The Difference Between Manual And Thermostatic Valves?

A manual valve is a simple on/off and flow control that you turn by hand. A thermostatic valve senses the room temperature and adjusts flow automatically, letting you set different temperatures room by room, which usually saves on heating bills over time.

What Size Black Radiator Valves Do I Need?

All the valves on this page are standard 15mm, which fits the majority of UK domestic heating pipework. Check your existing pipe diameter before ordering, since a 10mm or 22mm system needs a different size or an adaptor.

What Is A Lockshield And Do I Need One?

A lockshield is the second valve on a radiator, used to balance the flow across your whole heating system rather than being adjusted day to day. One pack in this range includes both the valve and lockshield, which is what you need if you're replacing both sides of the radiator.

Can I Fit Black Radiator Valves Myself?

Changing valves means draining down the radiator or system and making a leak-free joint on the pipework. If you've done plumbing before it's manageable; if not, a plumber will do it quickly and get a proper seal first time.

Will Matt Black Valves Match My Black Radiator?

Matt black valves pair well with matt black radiators, towel rails and taps. Shades of black can vary slightly between manufacturers, so if you're matching an existing radiator exactly, it's worth checking the finish description on both.

How to Choose Black Radiator Valves for Your Bathroom?

To choose black radiator valves for your bathroom, look at where your pipes enter first, since that decides angled, straight, or corner. Then pick manual or thermostatic depending on whether you want room-by-room temperature control, check your pipework is 15mm, and match the handle style to your radiator and fittings.
