Vanity Ideas for Small Bathrooms

If you’ve got a small bathroom, or even a cloakroom, that needs to be kitted out with a vanity unit, Bathroom Mountain has plenty of ideas and options to provide that all-important feature. A vanity unit (or cabinet or cupboard) provides storage beneath the basin, so that beauty products, toiletries and cleaning items can be stored neatly. If space is in very short supply, a clever wall cupboard can do the same job…

1 – Two Drawers + Surface Space

This little vanity unit is the Austin Stone Grey Wall Hung drawer vanity unit with Marble Top and Oval Counter Top Basin. It’s 600mm wide, with two roomy drawers in the cabinet – big enough to store all the bathroom necessities. The advantage of the counter top in a small space means there’s room for toothbrush and face-washing kit as well. A simple and stylish solution to providing vanity facilities in a smaller bathroom.

2 – Two Drawers + Neat Toilet

Combine a wall-hung vanity unit with a floor-standing back-to-wall WC for a sleek and fuss-free look in a small bathroom. A wall-hung cabinet allows the floor space to stand out, making the room look and feel spacious. This is the Corsica Storm Grey Wall Hung Vanity Unit and Basin, which is 800mm wide, which would work well down the ‘long’ side of a smaller bathroom. There’s a Floor Standing Version available if that suits your layout. Team it with the Corsica Curved Strom Grey Slimline Back To Wall Unit and Boston Toilet for an immaculately sleek look.

3 – Clever Corner Solution

A corner vanity unit is a very clever idea, and makes the most of the floor space in a small bathroom or cloakroom. This is the Trent Gloss White Corner Basin Vanity, which is 820mm H x 400mm W and 400mm D, so we think it could fit into virtually any tight corner space! The white gloss finish means your colour scheme can be updated by a colourful contrasting paint finish in the future – after all, white never goes out of style… The white basin is ceramic, and there are two roomy shelves within the cabinet itself.

4 – The Classic Corner Option

Create a classic or period style look with the Monaco Dove Grey Basin Vanity – the traditional-style panelled door and the sculpted plinth combine to give a classic feel to the smallest bathroom or cloakroom. The cabinet is made from engineered wood with a painted matt grey finish, the corner basin is white ceramic, and the door has a brushed chrome handle. This design is 590mm wide along the front edge, and is 410mm deep. And don’t forget – It’s fully assembled so will be a quick and efficient installation task!

5 – Vanity Combination Classic

A very good solution for small bathrooms that need a vanity unit is to link the vanity and the toilet together. Putting two separate items together not only saves space, it’s a good visual trick that makes the rest of the room appear more spacious. This is the Bermuda Graphite Grey Combination Vanity Basin with the Seattle Toilet, which puts two main items together in a width of 1000mm. And of course you get a neat vanity storage cupboard with surface space on the basin, along with a streamlined back-to-wall WC with shelf space on the back ledge. Clever stuff…

6 – Vanity Combination Contemporary

If you’re looking for a more contemporary take on the space-saving ‘combination’ concept, why not try our Foster Gloss White Combination Vanity Basin and Denver toilet. This combination is 1200mm wide, so could slot into a cloakroom or make the most of the available floor space in a smaller bathroom. The Foster design, in white gloss, keeps the whole look streamlined, and teamed with a dark floor and perhaps some black accessories, is extremely stylish. An all-white look makes the room appear larger, and this combination is reversible, to suit your plumbing arrangements.

7 – Add Elegant Panels

A small-space bathroom can still look elegant, with a classic vanity unit, marble top and the addition of some clever panelling. Panelling takes up barely any room at all, but can add a very elegant and classic look to the smallest space. Here, our Bermuda Chalk White Vanity Unit with Marble Top and Counter Top Basin measures just 600mm wide, but makes the most enormous amount of difference to a small room. Choose classic paint shades such as pale ivories, creams, greys and navy for that authentic period look – with cupboard space! And for really tiny spaces, there’s also a 400mm W x 22mm D version available here.

8 – Vanity Mirror with Cabinet

Ok, so if your bathroom is so tiny that there’s no space for furniture, don’t worry, you can still add some sensible vanity storage with a mirrored cabinet. We think there’s just enough space here for make-up essentials, and after all, if necessary, a de-clutter is always rather satisfying. Remember, however small the floor space, there’s always the option of adding some vanity and storage ideas with wall cabinets. This is the 500mm diameter Harper Round Stainless Steel Mirror Cabinet, if you can find a little more wall space there’s also a 600mm diameter version.
