Christmas Films On Netflix To Watch This Festive Season

You’ve opened the presents, eaten the food and played as many board games as you can take, now it’s time to unwind, put on your Christmas pj’s and watch a festive film on the sofa with the people you love most. Struggling to decide what film to watch? Don’t worry, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 best Christmas films on Netflix to end your day with some festive spirit.

10 – The Princess Switch

We start off strong with The Princess Switch. This wholesome Christmas film follows a baker from Chicago as she swaps lives with a duchess who looks spookily identical to her. Their lives couldn’t be further apart from one another, but when they live in each others shoes they find they could maybe get used to their new surroundings. This film was released in 2018, and directed by Mike Rohl. It stars the one and only Vanessa Hudgens, so its sure to be a good one! It also has a second and third film to go alongside it, so prepare to binge!

9 – Holidate

At number 9 is Holidate. This feel-good rom com is sure to warm even the coldest of hearts this Christmas. It features two singletons who need plus one’s to a series of events, including Christmas day, and so agree to be one another’s platonic partner for the year. Who knows what might develop along the way? Directed by John Whitesell and starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey, this film is certain to get everyone glued to the screen.

8 – Deck The Halls

Next up is an old favourite, Deck The Halls. Released in 2006, this film is a classic comedy that is certain to get the whole family in the Christmas mood. It features Steve, a suburban dad who loves everything Christmas, and his new neighbour Danny. Danny is on his own mission to light up his house with Christmas lights bright enough to see his house from space, but this doesn’t sit right with Steve. He wants his lights to be bigger and brighter, so declares a war which threatens the Christmas spirit. Another one directed by John Whitesell, and featuring Danny DeVito, so it’s definitely worth a watch.

7 – Single All The Way

Coming in at number 7 is Single All The Way. This film is a feel good rom com featuring a singleton who is desperate to avoid the judgment of his family for being another year single. He persuades his best friend to pose as his boyfriend for the Christmas season to fool his family into thinking he’s finally found the one. What could possibly go wrong? This is sure to be a favourite, starring Jennifer Coolidge, who’s a true Christmas star in the film/TV industry.

6 – The Christmas Chronicles

Sure to be a family favourite this Christmas is The Christmas Chronicles. This one features sibling duo Kate and Teddy, who plan a mischievous scheme to capture Santa on Christmas eve. When things don’t go to plan, the siblings and Santa himself join forces to save what’s left of Christmas before its too late. Directed by Clay Kaytis, this film is a family watch, and sure to get everyone in the festive mood.

5 – Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

This classic has been reimagined and animated to be a fun family friendly cartoon version of the original A Christmas Carol story that we all know and love! The story consists of a miserable businessman Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghost of his old business partner and the spirits of Christmas past, present and future. They hope they can change his ways and he will learn from his past mistakes. Directed by Stephen Donnelly, this new adaptation of the classic story is sure to get you feeling warm inside.

4 – Operation Christmas Drop

This fun loving film follows the story of a congressional aide that arrives at a tropical Air Force base on a strict mission to shut the operation down, but she clashes with Capt. Andrew. Maybe they can form a friendship, or more, afterall? This beautiful rom-com, directed by Martin Wood, is a true representation of Christmas spirit.

3 – Let It Snow

In at number 3 is Let It Snow. This Christmas rom com takes place in a small midwestern town on Christmas eve. A group of high school students are partying away when they find themselves trapped because of a snow storm. Relationships and friendships change as the group is stuck, who knows if it’s for good or bad, but everything is sure to be different on Christmas morning. Directed by Luke Snellin and starring the likes of Keirnan Shipka, Isabela Merced and Mitchel Hope, this one is perfect for the teens in the house!

2 – Nativity!

A favourite amongst our team here at Bathroom Mountain, is Nativity! This is a truly warming and uplifting film for your Christmas viewing. Follow along as a primary school teacher, once a failed actor, is given the task of directing the schools annual Nativity play, which hasn’t had the best track record! Can the teacher and his pupils pull the play off for the big Hollywood producer that’s coming to visit? Nativity! was released in 2009, directed by Debbie Isitt, and so is sure to hit you with a wave of nostalgia!

1 – Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Out top spot is taken by Dr. Seuess’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! A favourite amongst many households, this film is a must watch amongst many of us every year, and has become somewhat of a tradition! It follows the Grinch, who’s a slouchy, solitary creature who aims to cancel Christmas by stealing all the gifts and decorations from the town, Whoville. The Grinch stumbles across the endearing Cindy Lou Who, but can she change his mind about Christmas? A classic 2000 family film, directed by Ron Howard, this is a must watch this year and every year.
