Bathroom Lighting Ideas to Optimise Your Space

Lighting your bathroom is equally as important and furnishing your bathroom, and it shouldn’t be an afterthought. We’re offering our best advice and bathroom lighting ideas to ensure you know your options and can make the best lighting decisions for your own space.

1 – Pendant Lighting

Pendant lighting is a feature that hangs down from the ceiling or even a wall and can create a focused and attentive area of light in the bathroom. They can be placed virtually anywhere across the room so you can be sure to focus it in the exact area it’s needed, whether that’s over the bath or even the sink. There are a great variety of pendant lighting options, from modern to traditional, big or small, even vibrant and colourful or simple and plain.

2 – Making A Statement

If you’re looking for something bold and extravagant to make a statement in your bathroom, try a hanging pendant light that’s full of detail and character. For a traditional look opt for a classic chandelier-style pendant that will wow your guests to make your bathroom feel incredibly opulent and luxurious. If it’s something a bit more modern and contemporary you’re looking for, go for an industrial-style pendant with bars and dark colours. A bold statement pendant will give an artistic flare to your space. When it’s placed over somewhere like the bath can create that hotel room atmosphere in your own home.

3 – Ceiling Lights

An easy lighting option that doesn’t require too much planning is to go for simple and elegant ceiling lights. These are great if you want to keep your lighting scheme straight forward and uncomplicated. You can have one simple ceiling light in the centre of the room that will light up your whole space, or to create task lighting you can place multiple lights across the ceiling in specific areas to keep the light refined to one area.

4 – Hidden Lighting

If you’re maybe not a fan of the bigger and bulkier pendants and ceiling lights, consider ways you can introduce hidden lighting into your bathroom. Hidden lighting is great in areas like the shower and around the bath, to create an ambient and detailed design. It can also create a more intimate space, for that stylish and sophisticated bathroom look.

5 – Lighting Your Sink And Vanity Area

It’s incredibly important to have your sink and vanity area lit up and bright. It’s where we get ready in the morning, so you need to see how good you look! We love the idea of using two feature lights either side of your mirror, to create a framed, symmetrical look. When designing where you’re going to place your mirror over your sink, consider leaving enough room either side for a decorative light, to tie the vanity area together beautifully.

6 – Focussed Spotlights

Spotlights can be the ideal way of focussing small amounts of bright light on one certain area of your bathroom. They’re perfect for in the shower, where you may need a bit of extra lighting to see what you’re doing. Most spotlights sit flush with the ceiling, and so are great for staying hidden and not taking anything from the beautiful design of your bathroom. They are also an affordable way of creating a modern and elegant lighting scheme.
